History and Development
Euro-Mit Staal (EMS) was founded in 1991 by the Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and became operational in 1992. Before EMS was established, Mitsui had been supplying small-format electrical steel coils produced by Nippon Steel in Japan to Europe for decades. However, the lengthy time from initial order application to delivery posed a disadvantage for the Japanese supplier. In the late 1980s, a feasibility study was conducted to explore the construction of a service center in Europe, leading to the decision to establish EMS. EMS is dedicated to serving the transformer industry in Europe by processing Grain Oriented Electrical Steel (GOES) in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
In 1992, the first narrow-width coils were produced from the master coils received, and from that point on, EMS became a well-known name in the European transformer industry. Over the years, the demand for electrical steel processed by EMS grew, and to meet the increasing needs of the transformer market, EMS expanded its production capacity, as well as its storage and office space.
EMS is dedicated to serving the transformer industry.
